32 caramels or 1 1/3 c caramel bits
3 T cream or evaporated milk
3 T butter
3/4 c butter softened
1 c flour
1 c oatmeal
3/4 c brown sugar
1 t soda
1/2 t salt
1 c chocolate chips
Melt first 3 ingredients in a double boiler. Meanwhile, mix the rest
of ingredients except chocolate chips in a large bowl. Drop 3/4 of
dough mixture in the bottom of a greased 9x13, fairly large clumps,
evenly as possible. Bake at 350 for 10 min. Pour melted caramel mixture
on top, along with 1 c chocolate chips. Crumble the rest of dough on top
and bake 10-15 mins until crust golden brown.
